The Pretender is the fourth album by songwriter Jackson Browne. It was released in 1976 and managed to peak at the fifth spot on the Billboard charts. It was nominated for a Grammy in 1978 and has since been labeled as the 391st greatest album of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
“The Pretender” is also the name of one of the songs off of the album, which peaked at 58th place, a distance behind the other single “Here Come Those Tears Again” (which hit 23rd place before falling back down). It has nevertheless proven a staple of rock music ever since, and is played regularly on the radio.
